GOTHIC LIT.

A Gothic Literary Magazine

This project is from a graphic design course I recently took. The goal was to create a magazine themed around a subject of your choice. I decided to go with creating a magazine about the gothic literature genre.

I created a cover page, table of contents, center spread, and an editorial page. This was a long process and one of the largest graphic design projects I have worked on so far.

I chose to go with a minimalist illustrative style to highlight the written word that would be such an important part of this magazine. I used textured brushes to give the design a screen-printed appearance and worked with gothic and serif fonts. I wanted the viewer to immediately know what they were getting into if they picked up this magazine. 

My typography and layout skills improved drastically with this project, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to learn more about those subjects through the process of creating this.
